Children's Worship 3-7 years at contemporary and traditional services

At Crossroads, we believe WORSHIP to be at the very center of Christian life. And although our ultimate goal is for the entire church family to worship together in the sanctuary, young children can sometimes grow impatient during worship because they often do not
understand what is happening.
We don’t automatically know what it
means
to worship,
how to worship, or
why it’s important.
This is our motivation for Children's Worship!
Here's how it works:
Children are welcome to get a nametag before going into the sanctuary with their parents; they are near the Children's Worship Center. The service begins with the entire church family worshipping together. Part way through the service (usually after the children's message) children ages 3 to 7 years old are invited to proceed to either the Children's Worship Center, or the Fireside Lounge (up the stairs). As soon as the worship service is over, parents are asked to come promptly to the Children's Worship Center (or the Fireside Lounge) to pick up their child. This is what they learn and experience during children's worship. Our young children really participate in an age-appropriate worship service. The children sing (and sign) songs of praise, hear God's stories, respond to God's Word, talk to God, and listen to God.

It's Awesome!...An AGE APPROPRIATE worship service! Our children really experience worship by participating in singing and signing songs of praise, hearing God’s stories, responding to God’s Word, talking to Him, and listening to what He may have to say!

The Word of God and Wonder
The Word of God is presented in a way that increases a child's sense of WONDER. Children are encouraged to wonder about the stories of God's people; how Jesus lived His life; and the mysterious workings of the Holy Spirit. Wonder increases reverence for God and enlarges the possibilities of what He can do. The children also have the opportunity to respond with JOY through drama, art and praise music! Afterwards, we all sit down and read the words of the story we just heard directly from the Bible. We always share and pray together, too. Once a month, on Communion Sundays, we even have a small "feast" of
goldfish and water. This is a special time to be in community with one another. We spend a few minutes having a nice chat as we enjoy our "feast."
What if my child has never participated before?
Don't worry! Parents are also welcome to join in the children's worship service;
especially if your child is uncertain or nervous about staying. Sometimes a child is wary about joining in a new situation. Our worship leaders will do their best to see that all children feel welcomed. And because no child should be forced to participate, we would be happy to share any little "helps" we might have to encourage your child to want to participate. Sometimes all it takes is a parent staying during the Children's worship service once or twice! (especially our threes and fours! We'd love to hear your ideas, too!

"But Jesus called the children to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Luke 18:16

When your child rejoins you, (and the rest of their church family) in the
sanctuary at age 8, our hope is that they (and you) will enjoy a richer, more meaningful worship experience because of Children's Worship!
