How Do I Join Crossroads? Maybe you've attended a wedding at Crossroads? Or maybe a neighbor invited you to come and worship with us? Now you're at a point where you'd like to know more about joining Crossroads and learning about God's work in this time and place. Well, our Inquirer's Class will help answer your questions and discern if our family of faith might be where God is calling you now.Sound interesting? Read on! What is the Inquirer's Class? Great question! It is an opportunity to explore who we are, what we believe, where we come from and where we are going as a church. We highlight the history of the Christian faith and how the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. grew out of that history. We share what we believe and why. The Inquirer's Class gives you a chance to learn about many of the ministries of Crossroads and how you can easily become involved. When does the Inquirer's Class meet? We schedule classes about four times a year. The classes consists of five one-hour sessions. We also offer a 2-day condensed class each semester. The next class will begin Wednesday evenings, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, October 7 and run through October 28th with the fifth class on Sunday, November 1st at 9:45 a.m. Can I join Crossroads after I attend these classes? Yes. As you go through the classes, you are encouraged to prayerfully consider membership at Crossroads. Is this the church family where I sense God is calling me to be a part of? Do I feel like my spiritual needs will be fed? Does Crossroads offer opportunities where I might service Christ and His kingdom? If you decide that Crossroads is a good fit, you will be invited to meet with our Session which is made up of the elders, the leaders of our congregation, to express your interest in joining. This meeting occurs at noon on the last day of class. All new members are received publicly, in front of the entire congregation, the following Sunday during worship. However, if you decide not to join at that time, you are still enthusiastically welcomed and encouraged to continue worshipping with us and participating in any Crossroads' ministries that you enjoy. During the Inquirer's Class, you are able to meet others who are worshipping with us and are considering church membership. Often, friendships and small groups develop from the time spent together in class. When I join Crossroads, what will be asked of me When meeting with the Session and then again, in the congregational setting, you will be asked to reaffirm the vows taken at your baptism and publicly confess your faith in Jesus Christ. One of our pastors will ask the folks joining the following three questions: Now that I've joined, what happens next? We believe that God has blessed each of us with many gifts for service in Christ's church and beyond the walls of Crossroads. We are called to function as the "body of Christ" as we share our gifts. We will help you identify the gifts of time, talent and treasure that God has given you. We will help you discern God's call in your life's activities. And we ask you to share your gifts to support and strength the ministries of His church here at Crossroads. More simply said, you are encouraged to: Ready to join?
