Hanging of the Greens
Sunday, November 24
Noon to 3:00 p.m.
Moments that cause us to pause and shift gears—like the beginning of the church year and preparing for Christmas—happen once a year and sometimes come all too quickly. Providing opportunities to take a breath and find God’s presence in these moments is important. Our Hanging of the Greens event at Crossroads gives us an opportunity to share in preparing our worship space for the season of Advent. This year, it will incorporate a structure that you can repeat at home! We hope this will help you connect your faith life to your home life.
The Hanging of the Greens is considered a Crossroads “Generations In Faith Together” (GIFT) opportunity because it is a period of time when every individual, no matter their age, can participate on an equal level. There are jobs for every ability level, so that in the end, every person contributes to preparing the church for worship.
This year the event will kick-off with a short program of introduction in the CLC at noon. Sandwiches, snacks, and cookies will be provided. Jobs will be explained and assigned, and teams will be sent off to accomplish their tasks. Throughout the event, a do-it-yourself take-home craft will be set up in the Creation Station room. Stop by anytime to create an Advent wreath or an ornament to use in your own celebrations at home. We will close out time together around 2:45 p.m. with a blessing of the church greens and equip you to do the same with your decorations at home.
